The location on Horsell Common is a wonderful walk out featuring the area where H. G. Wells "War of the Worlds" Martians first landed. There are woodland walks around the sand pits and through pine trees, going round small lakes and exploring various plants and wildlife. It is a popular spot at the weekend for mushroom pickers.
The cache is a small traditional box with a clip lid. It takes small items and travel bugs. You will need to bring a pen/pencil to sign the log.
NOTE: Cache container and items have all been taken once so please ensure you replace it out of sight where you found it and cover.
The terrain is mostly covered in pine cones and needles and is suitable for buggies but you will need one with big wheels to move comfortably through it and over branches and tree roots as there is no path as such to the cache location.
This cache lies within an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Intertest) and has been placed with the kind permission of the Horsell Common Preservation Society. Please therefore respect the area and associated wildlife and plants.
