Do you remember Yosami Radio Wave towers?
The towers in the southern part of Kariya City could be seen around the neighborhood. These eight towers whose height was 250 meters lined up in double file and stood at intervals of about 500 meters. The construction of these equipments had been begun in 1927, the building and the antenna equipment were domestic, and the transmission equipment was made in Germany. Electric wave (5.814Khz,500KW) of the very long wave band was generated with the high frequency dynamo, and the transmitter converted into three times (17.442Khz) to make the radiotelegraphy communication with European nations succeed for the first time as our country. This antenna was managed from 1948 to 1996 so that U.S. Navy in Japan might use it for submarines communication. These towers and the antenna were destructed in 1997, and the main building was in 2006. The transmission equipments have been exhibited in the memorial hall of Yosami transmitting station and the transmitter tower shortened to 25 meters was settled in front of the hall. There are two big trees in the tower marks of seven places around there. The floral plaza in floral garden Yosami is a building which is imitated the main building of the transmitting station.
