Welcome to Vallentuna - "The fifth resident is a horse"
Vallentuna kommun är naturskönt beläget i nordöstra Storstockholm, med närhet till Stockholm, Arlanda och skärgården. Här finns en attraktiv boende- och livsmiljö i en blandning av småskalig tätort vid Vallentunasjön och ett vidsträckt, levande kulturlandskap.
Kommunen har över 30 000 invånare, varav cirka 20 000 bor i Vallentuna tätort. Inflyttningen till kommunen är en av de högsta i landet (invånarantalet växer stadigt med mellan 400 – 800 invånare per år). Vallentuna har ett växande serviceutbud, rikt föreningsliv och mycket gott om fritidsaktiviteter. Den högst inofficiella kommunsloganen att var femte invånare är en häst uppstod i mitten på 1980-talet. Möjligtvis stämde den då med verkligheten, men senare mätningar visar att andelen hästar minskat kraftigt :)
Vallentuna ligger i ett välbevarat, levande kulturlandskap präglat av flera tusen års jordbruks- och boskapsskötsel. Kommunen är rik på fornlämningar, som exempel kan nämnas att man i södra Vallentuna har funnit spår efter en stenåldersboplats. Vallentuna är den kommun som har flest runstenar i landet. Ett fleratal cacher inom Vallentuna guidar dig till runstenar, hällristningar och andra historiska sevärdheter.

The Municipality of Vallentuna is situated some 25 kilometres north of Stockholm, but has twice the size (360 km2) of the capital city.
Growing population
Over 30,000 people live here now; 20 percent are 20 or younger and just over 10 percent are 65 or older. Most people live in single-family homes in pleasant surroundings with plenty of green areas. We expect an annual population increase of 2 to 3 percent until 2015.The - not official - slogan that the fifth resident is a horse was stated in the 80´s. More recent calculations has shown that the share of horses has declined in favor for humans :)
