Ramapo High Climb
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This is the reincarnation of "Ramapo High Climb" (GC2C3AD)
GC2C3AD was an ill-fated cache that was published on these same coordinates one year ago, but never found. When the DNFs started to pour in, the cache owner "Book Wyrm" chose to archive the cache, rather than to go back and figure out what was wrong.
Turns out, his coordinates were what was wrong. While hiding my nearby Matty's Prize cache, I stumbled upon the container of the original Ramapo High Climb cache. I found it at N41° 04.738' W074° 12.512', almost 200m from where the published coordinates of GC2C3AD said that it would be. Since these coordinates were too close to other caches nearby, this is NOT where the cache is now hidden.
There is also nothing to be found at the coordinates published above. In tribute to the original, the cache's true coordinates are just as much off from the published location as before. Only in the opposite direction. You'll have to plot or calculate them to make the find.
The Yellow-Silver trail brings you to within about 100m of the new hide spot. Bushwhack from there.
Thanks to book-wyrm in Texas for readily agreeing to the re-use of his ammo-can! The cache is using the original container, with all the original contents, of GC2C3AD.
Congrats to biga800 and wjgrun for FTF!
