A little history for you! In 1882, the beautiful Sibley schoolhouse was constructed at this location for the cost of $6000. It was the pride of the town! It served the students of Sibley until 1949 when Sibley schools consolidated with Melvin schools. At that time, the Sibley schoolhouse became home to the Sibley elementary students and the entire junior high. Later in 1971, the Sibley schoolhouse was converted to the elementary school for the entire district. In 1993, the Melvin-Sibley school district consolidated with the Gibson City school district and students roamed the halls of the Sibley schoolhouse for the last time. The magnificent schoolhouse has since been demolished.
