Geocache Description:

Someone had a campfire. I wonder if they toasted marshmallows or had a boil-up?

Be careful parking as the road is narrow and is in use by a number of cabin owners. Closer to the highway be on the watch for large trucks and heavy machinery. I set this cache recording the location using the second method listed below. As always there were flies present on a drizzly overcast day.

Caution - the following is a rant sort of that looks only to improve. When I put out a cache I am looking for it to be found. Using a high sensitivity GPS receiver the task is easier than with my older previous GPSr.
The older unit had less sensitivity and when in heavy cover was prone to error. To compensate for this I used to have the receiver on and tracking satellites while placing the cache. Then I would move away from the cache to where the sky shot was clearer. I would do this in three offset directions from the cache trying to be the same distance away each time. Later I would take the average of the three readings and post them as the cache coordinates. This practice seemed to work as I had a fellow geocacher place his high sensitivity receiver at the cache and record its location. The two times we tried the separate methods the coordinates matched favorably.
With a newer high sensitivity receiver I have the receiver turned on and tracking while placing the cache then I use the average function. I let 20-30 counts build up with the unit next to or on top of the cache. I then walk the unit a short distance away and returning to the cache. Again I use the average function as before. If the two averaged coordinate sets agree I stop there but sometimes a third set is needed to allow an improved average value from the three separate sets.

While there is definitely no wrong way to obtain cache coordinates there are always ways a proficient user can look to improve our use of any technology.
