Several of the islands in the Gulf of Nicoya are protected bird sanctuaries, so you are not allowed to go ashore. Isla Cedros however is not; about 50-60 people live on the island. Still it has a great diversity of birds and also some wildlife. Especially on this tip of the island which is less inhabited, you can spot anteaters, raccoons, coatis, herons, frigate birds, pelicans and iguanas if you are lucky.
This cache is located at the far end of Isla Cedros and is the third cache in my series of “My Favorite Places around where I live”. And what makes this one of my favorite places is the stunning view.
The cache is placed high up on a narrow ridge giving a stunning view in all directions. The whole ridge is in the public zone, however when you go ashore on the beach it is good if you say hi to Gonzalo who is the caretaker of the property so that he knows that you are looking for the cache. He loves that people come over as he is quite lonely out there. He knows about the cache, and can also help you if needed.
The Cache is placed about 30 cm up from the ground. It is a narrow tube, containing only the log.
