Geocache Description:

Salve!
The coordinates should get you to the
Bell Inn in Burton Overy. (The Bell,Main Street,Burton Overy, LEICESTER LE8 9DL
(Habesne plus vini?)

This will be the venue for a Roman themed afternoon of gentle caching suitable for the whole family. Part of the walk involves a Roman Road.

Fancy dress not necessary - caches will be themed is the plan

The actual meet will be from 2pm until 6pm when a number of new caches will be available to find on short, family friendly walks in the area.

There will be three loops..one requires about 200m of road walking. The two short loops are about 1.5 miles and the combined loop is 3 miles. Rough grassland and old gravel track - so for the time of year stout shoes needed I guess.

There'll be an opportunity to swop Trackables and Geocoins too.

In ancient writings, the village was referred to as Burtone, Burton Novrey, and later Burton Overy. It is seated in a valley on the brook, which rises in the lordship of Frisby, near Gaulby. It is bounded on the west by Great Glen, on the north by Little Stretton and Norton, on the east by Carlton and Ilston and on the south by Kibworth and a small part of Wistow. It is nearly equidistant from Leicester and Harborough – about 9 miles from each, and in the ecclesiastical division of the county, which is within the deanery of Gartree.

Please park carefully and considerately in the village - it isn't huge!

The pub serves food until 1.30 - so why not come for lunch and wait for start time mingling with fellow cachers?
Evening meals are served from 6.30 and need to be booked in advance with the pub on 0116 2592365.
Vale!
