Poles of Respect Traditional Cache
sharnie's tribe: Have been feeling uncomfortable about how close this one is to a playground, so decided it should go. Don't want cachers to be challenged about lurking there.

In the Somerset/Cooee area there are ten sets of brightly coloured totem poles (that we know of, there may be more). They are titled the Poles of Respect.
In 2007 students from the three local primary schools worked with resident artist Emily Smith on an art project to show the community the importance of respecting and celebrating our past, our place and our people. The poles have been painted with themes and placed in sets of three in appropriate spots in the community. For example, the poles near the cenotaph in Anzac Park have red poppies and the ones near the surfclub are painted with lifesavers and beach scenes.
The totem poles near the cache have been placed where the historic Port Maldon was established on the banks of the Cam River.

When placed the cache contained a logbook and pen, some small swaps and a geocoin.
In a high muggle activity area - please be stealthy!
