The Grassland on Stonebarrow Hill is home to many butterflies such as the Common Blue and the small pearl-borded fritillary.
In the winter of 2010, The Rangers worked alongside Natural England to cut back some of the Gorse that had been growing up over the years on the Hill. Doing this work has encouraged the grass to grow back as well as the Dog Violets which is the foodplant for the Small pearl-borded fritillary. In the next few years we hope to improve numbers of this declining butterfly.
You are looking for a medium sized clip top box which contains log book, pencil and tradable goodies.
This Geocache can be combined with the caches below to make a route along the top of the hill which should take you about two hours. Note: The difficulty for each of the caches is on an individual basis. The terrain takes into account the whole estate and all caches involved. Bring a picnic if you want to make a day of it!
