Geocache Description:

The other day, I went for a nice walk on the bike path. As I passed by the remnants of Rocky Point Park, I fondly reflected on happier times here. But there was one visit that was especially memorable.

Now it was a nice summer day and my parents surprised me with a trip to Rocky Point Park. As we arrived, the smell of clam cakes and salt water welcomed us. A sea of people filled the park and the sound of happy families was music to my ears. Even then, I was a big fan of the rides and I was eager to go on as many as possible...

I started out my day with a ride on the Skywheel. Whenever we reached the top, I looked out over the park to find other places that I wanted to go to.

Then, I decided to try my luck at Fascination. I wasn't that bad at rolling the ball, but there was another kid next to me who was really good. He lit the lights so quickly that I never had a chance. So after a few games, I decided to head back to the rides.

Next were the Roto Jets. I just loved going in circles, pretending that I was a real-life fighter pilot. I'd pretend that I was in pursuit of the kid in front of me and that he was an enemy ace. Ratatatatat!

After that, it was time for a roller coaster. So I headed over to the Cyclone. My dad rode with me since my mom didn't like roller coasters, but she waved from below when we passed by. That was definitely one of my favorite rides.

But one roller coaster wasn't enough, so then we went to the Corkscrew. It was so fun doing those crazy loops! But by the time it was over I was a little woozy from the spinning and twisting, so we decided to take a bit of a break from the rides.

We headed over to the Shore Dinner Hall for some chowder and clam cakes. To this day, I have yet to find better. But maybe the fact that it was at Rocky Point just made them taste that much better. After that bite to eat, it was back to the rides...

The first stop after lunch was the Sky Diver. I thought it would be fun to spin the car while going around, but I had a bit of trouble controlling it so I spent most of the ride upside-down!

Then we went to the Spider. Round and round we went, spinning all the way! But after a little while, I had to slow it down a bit. Otherwise things may not have ended up well, especially so soon after eating!

After my stomach settled down, we went to the Rok-n-Roll. We rocked and rolled and went round and round, laughing the entire time!

Then I went back to the Cyclone for another ride. This time I went by myself. I think mom and dad were a bit spent after going on so many rides.

Finally, after a long afternoon of having fun in the hot sun, we decided to cool down with a ride on The Flume. It felt so refreshing when we crashed down into the water, but we were totally soaked!

So we grabbed a snack and strolled around for a little while to dry off. We were still a little damp when we got back into the car, but it didn't matter. It was still a perfect day at Rocky Point Park.

Now the rides are gone and a fence keeps us out. But you can still see some evidence of the good times spent here. And sometimes, if you close your eyes really tight, you can still smell those clam cakes and hear the laughter of the happy people...
