Released in September 1980, the album Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) is classed by many as Bowies last great album. Although not as commercially sucessful as the much "poppier" Lets Dance in 1983, this album produced classics such as Fashion and Ashes to Ashes. Less experimental than the previous "Berlin Trilogy" of Low, Heroes and Lodger, it was classed as the perfect balance between commercial and experimental by Bowies biographer David Buckley.
The album peaked at No1 in the UK and No12 in the US
