Geocache Description:

On 10 August 2008, the log carrier LOLA, lost it's cargo of
approximately 200 logs just a few miles off Robben Island, en route
to the Port of Cape Town. These logs, weighing between 5 and 12
tons each and up to 10 meters in length, presented a major
navigational hazard to passing traffic and especially small craft
such as fishing and recreational vessels. The tug SMIT AMANDLA was
dispatched from St Helena Bay to assist the South African Maritime
Safety Authority to determine the extent of the drift of the logs
to ensure accuracy of navigational warnings.  Later, four of
these logs washed up in Kommetjie, three of which were recovered.
The fourth, just off Klein Slangkop proved too much of a challenge
and ever since locals and visitors have enjoyed a comfortable perch
on which to contemplate the view to Chapman's Peak. We hope you too
will take a few minutes to appreciate one of our favourite spots in
Kommetjie.

Congrats to MnCo & Zambesiboy with the FTF on a
beautiful morning! Enjoy the prize!
