Geocache Description:

Lower Lines - Admirals Gardens,

If you have a hour free why not explore the lower lines that date back to 1803 when the defences and brick lined ditches linked up with fortifications including Fort Amherst to defend the Medway Towns and dock yards from the threat of invasion during the Napoleonic Wars. When these defences became obsolete the park was the site of a grand house and gardens. Later it was the site of HMS Wildfire during WW2 and the remains of the underground command post still exist below the park you may even be about to find a cache
