After a recent drive in this area, my husband and I realized there should be more geocaches to bring people up to "the town that is no more". This is the first in a series of historic caches we are beginning designed to document and honor citizens of the Old Bingham City and in this one, its Cemetery. Historical information is included in these caches.
This is intended to be an historic cache and take you back in time. Please don't just grab and drive (or cycle) away. While here, please take 15 minutes or so to respectfully walk the grounds to fully appreciate this location. It will make your visit here so much more interesting. Imagine what life was like for this people. Take a look up the canyon and try to envision what the old Bingham City looked like. A sense of history still pervades here. Please be respectful of the graves and do not remove any rocks or other items as many of those things are on unmarked graves.
If you like this cache, you might want to keep eyes peeled for the next ones as they appear. They will all start with the words, Old Bingham City.... You may also enjoy a drive up the street to the lovely little town of Copperton (not the same as Bingham City). It has very cute houses and the prettiest city park in the valley. Log, pen, stamp and inkpad in cache (not for trading). Very cool swag for trading. Please trade with interesting items, no geotrash like used chapstick or business cards. Please replace cache in as good as condition as you found it and make sure lid is secure. Would love to see some geocoins or TB hop on board. Hope you enjoy your trip through time!
