Geocache Description:

Level terrain, should be accessible to most. I have indicated that it is wheelchair friendly as the terrain is flat however there is some gravel on the approach. If anyone thinks i'm wrong in this please let me know and I will change the listing.
No need to go beyond the gate to find the cache.

The cache is in the little town of Ballycastle.

Baile an Chaisil - the town of the stone fortress lies on the beautiful rugged coast of North Mayo.
It is a small but thriving community which has much to offer visitors. There is a rich history, going back at least 5000 years. Our ancestors left evidence of their way of life at the Céide Fields where an Interpretative Centre has been built.
Long sandy beaches and tall threatening cliffs are all within easy reach of the town. The cliffs at Céide reach a height of 365 feet and give a panoramic view of horizontal layers of sandstone 350 million years old.
There is an earth cache close by at the stunning Downpatrick Head. Well worth a visit.
Back in the town a visit to some of the local pubs or cafes could lead to an encounter with some interesting locals who will be happy have a bit of craic with you.

The cache is on private property but has the permission of Mary from the cafe for it's placement. So don't be shy if she spots you.

Please respect the local residents and avoid caching at antisocial hours.
