Tanaji Malsure (see my Sinhagad Geocache description), General of King Shivaji died in the battle at Sinhagad Fort. After conquering the fort his remains were then taken to his native place Umbrat by this trail (In 1630). Madhe means dead body, Tanaji’s dead body was taken by this trail to the bottom and then to Umbrat hence this trail is called Madhe Ghat. No ordinary man can go through such trail, these trails are very difficult.

Now this place is a tourist attraction because of waterfall in Mansoon Season up to October. Though motorable, last 3km is a rough road. On red and sticky mud bikes skid but still you can go. Small cars better be parked if they find it difficult to go ahead. Near waterfall there are no railings, so keep distance from the edges and slopes particularly on mud and wet grass.

Caution : you can go up to the edge from where the water falls down, it is just few feet from you, shallow and you are tempted but once you step in to water the rocks below are very slippery and you are sure to slip. Please don’t take risk. There are two more points just 100 feet away and you can take a good view of waterfall from distance safely.

My chache is a small transparent box with usual things and a nice Fengshui Hanging kept in two Ziploc bags again put in one milky white polythene bag. Actually this is the fourth cache in a row en route Pune-Sinhagad-Pabe Ghat-Velhe Valleys-Madhe Ghat.
This is crazy; we could have met in Pune itself. But no, I go there to hide my Geocache first and then you go again there to find my Geocache. And we meet on log-sheet in a sealed bag, so don’t forget to sign in else we are not met! :)
