Geocache Description:

The Battle of Britian was drawing to a close, when this aircraft was shot down. The cache is a small plastic containner, placed close to the crash site.

The cache contains a few swapies, including a running medal, and a log book.

On Sunday 15th Sept this Dornier 17 ( known as the Flying Pencil) due to its long thin shape. F/O Michael Staples of 60 Squadron, shot up this aircraft, causing it to crash land close to 18 Pounder Farm. One crew member bailed out and drifted out towards the sea, and was listed missing presumed drowned. The 3 remaing crew members survived the crash landing and became POW's.

The cache is placed next to the road. The road is narrow, please take care and use parking area close by.
