Geocache Description:

there is an additional prize in this crazy if you so choose to do it but plz dont remove it from the cache

On August 27th,1858 15,000 people gathered in Freeport to hear the second in a series of debates between Lincoln and Douglas. While the political race was for a seat in the United States Senate, the issues were at the very heart of the growing national struggle over slavery. Lincoln asked what became known as the "(Freeport Question", and out of this debate came the "Freeport Doctrine", which echoed in the 1860 presidential election, forever giving Freeport and the response Douglas gave here a place in our nation's history. Thus THE HEATED DEBATE. Cache box is starting with a travel bug, Lincoln- Douglas Debate collectors coin and many other items for trading. Container is big enough for log book, travel bugs and other trinkets. This cache is hidden on private property with the permission from the owner. You will not need to climb just reach with a long arm. There are 2 parking lots located to the south and west of cache. After you find the cache, to the west is a wonderful park that you may want to visit to learn all about the Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and during the months of March - October you can get ice cream treats and even a burger named after the debate. I hope you will enjoy this cache as much as I did hiding it.
