The Gainsborough Hall has a long and interesting history. Originally this site was home to the Gainsborough School District 1941 which first opened in 1920 with 13 students. The original school burnt in 1930 but was rebuilt over that summer. In 1939 a second room was added and the school went up to Grade 10.By 1967 enrollment was about 60 students at which time it joined the Portage School Division and students were bussed to Portage. At this time 2 acres of School Land were sold to the Gainsborough Co-op Community Club.
The Hall is now used by many Groups. Some events that are held here regularly are:
Monthly 4H Meetings
Snowmobile Poker Derby
Gainsborough 4H Achievement
Fall Supper
Halloween Howl
Winter Archery
Area Christmas Party
The Hall is also used for Family Reunions, Baby Showers, Funerals and other Community events. Recently trees have been planted to enhance camping
