Follow the path as it passes the confluence of the Tryweryn with
the Dee. A peculiar feature of the River Dee is that this short
length can flow in either direction. Under normal conditions, it
leaves the northern end of the lake, is joined by the Tryweryn and
continues on its way to Cheshire. However, when the sluice gates
are lowered, some of the flow of the Tryweryn passes through,
whilst the remainder is channelled back to the lake, sweeping the
Dee back with it. Across the river you will notice the original
course of the River Dee out of the lake. This water-course
wasn’t substantial enough to handle the combined waters of
the Dee and the Tryweryn when they are turned back to the lake in
times of flooding. Neither was the old road-bridge over the Dee for
that matter. So, a new course was dug for the rivers and a new
road-bridge installed. A full description of the series can be
found in TUFTY 1. CONGRATULATIONS ! FTF goes to Cwm DJ STF goes to
Kochmaster TTF goes to Zeuss 55
