A cache high up on Swampy.
Visit swampy for a good workout and be rewarded with some magic views and perhaps a few caches. Swampy summit at around 730m is well populated with transmission mast beckons and aircraft navigation equipment.
There are a number of ways to approach this cache. The shortest (and most boring) would be from the locked gate on Swampy Access Rd off Flagstaff Whare Flat Rd. Other entry points are from Leith Saddle via the Leith Saddle Track or up the Burns / Swampy Summit Tracks where you can plan a round trip and visit a number of other caches on route. The weather conditions in this area can change rapidly so come prepared with warm and wet weather clothing. Antony Hamil book "Dunedin Tracks and Trails" should be on your reading list prior to tackling Swampy. It is extremely well written and has excellent maps of of the network of tracks in the region.
The cache is a 200ml sistema container with log and pencil.
