Geocache Description:


This cache will bring you to Historical town of Loch. Thanks to Hearse068 for helping me with this cache and having a camera when needed. This town has a lot of History as well as recently it has been in the news for a Truck accident. At approximately 3.40 am on Monday the 8th of August 2011 the town was awoken to the sound of a big crash. To those close it probably would have sounded like a bomb going off. Instead it was a truck that crashed into a house that is/was located less than 100 meters from where this cache is. It is absolutely amazing the people in the house survived and the truck driver survived as well. The room they slept in was the only room still standing intact in the house. Beside the house is a service station one can only imagine what would have happened if it hit that. I have included some picture of the house or should I said what is left of it. Anyway enough about that I had better tell you about the cache site.

GZ is located at Centennial Park. There is some interesting murals and some plaques located close to the cache. Near the cache is a single Furrow Horse Draw Mulboard Plough that was used in the Loch area for planting crops. The Plough is sitting on a Horse Drawn Sledge which was a popular means of transporting good on farms until the introduction of the Grey Ferguson in the 1950's. There is a fantastic Murial behind these two item depicting how the plough was once used. Well worth a photo.
The Centennial celebration at Loch was from 1876 to 1976 and in 2001 Loch celebrated 125 years of settlement of this town.
