Tung O Beach
Tung O beach at the eastern shores of Lamma Island is one of the lesser known beaches of Lamma. It's also not a government maintained beach, so no facilities other than a public toilet at the northern end of the beach. And it's also very quiet there as a result. Once a year or so a group of volunteers will go to clean up this beach. At times lots of debris and other flotsam is deposited there.
Walk in 30-60 minutes (depending on your route and starting point) from Sok Kwu Wan or from Mo Tat Wan to the beach. You can follow the Lamma Family Trail in either direction for a relaxed 1.5-star walk (gentle slopes, but just not really wheelchair grade).
The northern half of the family walk takes you to some old villages, still inhabited by a handful of mainly elderly people. You will also pass by a small two-story building: this used to be a private school, opened in 1932 to provide basic education to the children of the fishermen and farmers on the island. It has since closed as it can't fulfill today's expectations, and most villagers have left for a better(?) life in the city.
The last bit to the cache is a bit of a scramble but not difficult, that's the 3-star rating. The cache is a 530-ml lock&lock type container. A great walk to undertake with kids, just be careful with the last 30m or so which are not so kid-friendly.
Getting there.
Take the ferry from Central or Aberdeen to Sok Kwu Wan or Mo Tat Wan and follow the Family Trail in either direction.
Islands Hopping
This cache is part of the "Island Hopping" caches, the log book contains an "island hopping" code. Write down this code; when you have them all you can go for the bonus cache.
