Known locally as ‘Hush Hush’ the buildings near the cache location were originally built as a WW2 Anti Submarine Detection Base controlling movements in the Clyde. The reason it is known by the islanders as ‘Hush Hush’ is that it was a top secret defence base – everyone on the island knew what it was for but wouldn’t say!

In 1991 the “Challenge Anneka” TV programme with Anneka Rice (on a helicopter!) came to the island to renovate the dilapidated buildings. The buildings are now run by a charity as a holiday centre and are available for community group and family holidays. Please respect the privacy of anyone who may be in residence - the cache is at the roadside and is out of sight of the buildings.
