This cache is located near the old mill in Westerdale at a picturesque spot on the River Thurso.
The cache is a small plastic box with log book pen and a collection of small goodies. It is not in the building or any surrounding walls in fact you do not need to cross the old dry mill stream to find it.
For parking there are lay bys either side of the bridge at Westerdale. On the southern side of the bridge there is a set of wooden steps that takes you down to the grass below the bridge.
There are some ancient ruins/mound a little further down stream we have not explored yet but may be worth a visit.
The area is pretty quiet apart from the occasional fly fisherman. Please respect any one fly fishing in the area in terms of noise and giving them a wide space to cast their line.
