Geocache Description:

I come to Juneau several times a year and have relatives living in town and have done a little caching here. Came up this year to go fishing and noticed a few caches out on the islands and after finding one that had not been found in five years I decided there needed to be more incentives for boat caching.

From Wikipedia "Couverden Island is a small island located at the western entrance of Lynn Canal in Alaska. The first European to see it was Joseph Whidbey in 1794, master of the Discovery during George Vancouver's 1792-1794 exploration of the Pacific Northwest. The south point of the island was named by Vancouver Point Couverden, "which I called after the seat of my ancestors". The name was apparently later transferred to the island. The island is located in Haines Borough in southeastern Alaska.

Congratulations to "sans pareil" for First to Find honors after 4 years 11 months and two weeks! I was wondering how long it would take for the FTF.

Swanson harbor nearby is a great place to spend the night tied to a sheltered dock. Sisters Island nearby is a great place to go fishing. There are dungeness crab in the area when in season. I hope you enjoy your visit.
