Geocache Description:

The cache is a Nano located on Oram's Arbour, just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Winchester. The park is popular with people of all ages and has a children's playground towards the north end. You will need to bring a pen or pencil to sign the log and please take care to be discrete as the area is popular with muggles. If you have not come across a nano before, the trick to replacing the log book is to roll it up and place it in the lid end.

About Oram's Arbour

The history of Winchester can be traced back to an Iron Age fort on the site of Oram's Arbour as early as 300BC. In Roman times the settlement was named 'Venta Belgarum' which became the regional capital. The name 'Oram's Arbour' dates back to the late 17th century when land owner Alexander Oram leased land in the area from the city authorities. Today the Oram's Arbour park hosts Winchester's annual Hat Fair in July which is Britain's longest running festival of street theatre and outdoor arts. To the east and south-east, during the winter, there are views across the city rooftops towards St Giles hill.
