Geocache Description:

Enjoy the Ramon Crater Rim Trail! Beautiful in early morning or late afternoon!! Read description carefully!!!

Ramon Crater needs no introduction - it is a unique geological phenomenon, which provides for a variety of ways to enjoy and appreciate its beauty. Hike, bike, ride an ATV, camp, discover, rappel, hot-air balloon, and more.

Mitzpe Ramon, the community on the edge of the crater, is developing rapidly, with a variety of hospitality and dining options. The development brings up the usual discussion of nature preservation vs. tourism services.

This discussion was recently heated with the opening of a big hotel on the edge of the rim. The hotel initially blocked the rim trail, so that hikers do not interfere with view from the front raw rooms of the hotel. The hotel was later forced to reopen the trail, which passes in a narrow space between the rooms and the edge of the rim. The trail is public, open 24 hours a day, but is safe only during daylight hours.

The cache is along the trail, just between the hotel and the rim's edge. Use caution when getting there: do not approach from the east, from the road that passes under the cache! Use the rim trail - you can get to the cache location from the south or from the north. A good option is to park your car at the visitors' center, enjoy the crater's view from there, and then use the bridge to cross north.

The cache is a tiny blue tube, hidden in a crack, west of the trail (hotel's side). You may want to take a look at the spoiler photos, as reception was not great when the cache was hidden. Note that some rocks were added after the photos were taken, to better conceal the location from the trail. Please provide better coordinates if you have.
