Geocache Description:

Car park at 51° 18.574'N, 0° 10.489'W. Fair walk up the hill through the woods, collecting Banstead Woods cache on the way. Or park at the pub on Outward lane.

This cache is a magnetic Nano at head height, please be careful to replace it carefully. Enjoy the woods and the views.

In between two beautiful areas of countryside to be enjoyed.

Banstead Woods is ancient woodland which has been designated a SSSI (Site of special scientific interest). It covers an area of 250 acres and is one of the most valuable woodlands in Surrey. In the spring a spectacular display of bluebells can be seen. The adjoining Park Downs, 74 acres, also has many chalkland plant species. If you have a dog please be aware that there may be grazing animals.
Shabden Park is famed for its sweeping views of rolling hills and sheep-grazed valleys. In the 1960s and 70s intensive farming took its toll on the landscape, almost destroying the rich wildflower grassland. The present tenant farmer has returned the land to a more wildlife friendly way of farming and each year more flowers and birds can be seen.

When visiting the Estate please remember that most of the area is a working farm. In the interests of both wildlife and livestock, you should keep to the designated paths and close all gates behind you. Dogs should also be kept on a lead.

The PH on Outwood Lane makes a pleasant stopping place before or after the cache.
