2011 Million Shades of Autumn Event Cache
andrewmcc: Time to put this event to bed. What a great time and great weather. Thanks to team geobusters again for co-hosting the event and to Tesser who save my but with helping out as things got nuts. Thanks to Diane and the rest of the William O'Brien staff for inviting us out to do our thing in their beautiful park. They have already asked us back for next year! See you then!

2010 Million Shades of Autumn
This is our 4th year doing this event with William O'Brien State Park. The event is in the park so a park permit is required.
This is a 2 day event and can log it if you come on Sunday Sept 25th
We in still in the planning stages but the park is going to provide a custom pathtag that you can earn by finding caches in the park. There is a limited supply of the pathtags so one per family.
We are submitting 7 new published caches to the DNR for approval and hoping to have them ready to go that day. Those caches are on the "back 40" of the park along the hiking club trail. They will be part of the Wildness challenge. We will also have temps on the ever popular river walk loop!
We will start the day at 9:00 and have coffee and lemonade ready. Please bring some donuts to share.
About 2:00 we will have the grill fired up for a pot Luck lunch, let us know what you can contribute. This is a 2 day event and can also log it if you come on Sunday. We will be there until 5pm on Saturday and 4pm on Sunday
We are doing this again on the same weekend as the Voyager encampment.
Voyageurs were the 'truck drivers' of the fur trade era. They would travel the rivers and lakes hauling beaver, mink, muskrat and other animal furs. These furs would be packaged in 90-pound packs that they hauled over long portages. Eventually, these furs would end up as top hats and coats to the elite in Europe. These voyageurs were a hearty bunch with a unique lifestyle which only they could call their own. Come down to the picnic grounds and view the camp and ask them questions as the Neebing Brigade and the La Compagnie Brigade re-enact the 1700's and make their home at the park for the weekend. Take a step back in history and, through activities and special programs, learn the life of the Voyageur!
I understand there will be tomahawk throwing and archery to try out also.
Put a watch on the cache page for future updates.
