Interesting cemetery, cache is placed not far from Henry Hartley's marker. Easy find in the summer,, might be a bit difficult in the winter months.
Summit City originally called Excelsior, on the western shore of Meadow Lake.
Henry Hartley staked the Excelsior mining claim in June 1863. It grew to a popluation of over 4,000. Extracting the gold bearing ore was very difficult and by 1869 the town was down to only 60 residents. Enjoy the cemetery. We enjoy each time we come here for Sierra Trek.
