Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Pond!

Ponds provide excellent habitat for a great variety of wildlife and are an important part link in the hydrologic cycle. The pond is a community of plants and animals that are living and “working” together. Together they form many different food chains in a interconnected food web. An example of a pond food chain is: algae, insect larva, minnow, heron. The pond here at the Center although small, has a large variety of pond life. Can you spot or see signs of the birds, animals, insects that use our pond? Stand on the dock and peak into the water…do you see life underneath? All these critters are apart of our pond community!
