bretina: Stopped by to check on this, and the pink ammo can is definatly gone. Since it's no longer Pal's (it was sold and recently became Dan's Diner, which we are very happy that it has reopened) and a new chapter is beginning, we thought it was a good time to close the book on this one.

Geocache Description:

Pal's Diner was built in 1954 by the Manno Dining Car Company. It weighs 35 tons, and is over 12 feet tall. The diner is recognized as a historical structure and is recorded in the Historical Site Survey and the Smithsonian Institute.

Pal's has retained its old "Diner Style" image with its roof features and panoramic picture windows. The interior features a mirrored ceiling and original pink "boomerang design" counter surface, and creased stainless panels. The original neon lit exterior clock is still operational.

The diner has been frequented by many famous people (see the back room for pictures) and has been in numerous television commercials and movies.

After a sizable investment of capital and effort, Barry and Sam Brown brought the diner car to Grand Rapids in 1993 from northern New Jersey and set up shop. Barry knows the diner's full story if you ask him.

The food is absolutely what you'd expect from a classic diner.

Pal's is an official stop on the Grand Rapids Metro Cruise every August, and Classic's can be spotted in the lot most Thursday nights.

The Cache is a small ammo box painted in-theme with the diner, and hidden with permission
