Geocache Description:

A suburban racetrack... no longer used for racing, but you can still hear the horses hooves pounding and the sulky wheels 'whooshing' around the track as the resident Standard Breds train each morning... A lovely active walk with solid trails, toilets etc, well set up playground.

The Great Show Horses were almost Push-button to ride... this Cache is dedicated to those stunning fiery horses who had the presence to float across the ground.

I feel such a history associated with this place. In it's 'Golden Years' when fast horses raced, ugly extravagant moving horses did Dressage and crazy (or brave) horses did Showjumping or Cross Country... the STUNNING looking horses were Show Horses.

The Royal Shows were the goal but every horse had to qualify to compete, so the chase was on for red/white & blue sashes. Eastfield Park was used every second week for horse shows, run by a multitude of clubs and associations: it was packed each time!
But in this 'new' generation of equestrian events horses are specifically bred to be extravagant, beautiful and bold. Eastfield Park still holds the club grounds for the Mountain & District Pony Club that I was a member of so many years ago, but now that focus is on Eventing. The grounds at Eastfield Park are a little small for a proper state Eventing PC course but as a short course competition it's wonderful.
It is still a premier facility for Dressage and Shojumping, even for State Level.

StaceV (daughter) loved competing here too at State level, whether it was Dressage, Showjumping or Eventing! We have some wonderful photos that bring back memories of competitions here on BRONSON... our favourite pony, almost unbeatable at PCAV events.
BRONSON : stunning appearance, precision work and a buck that would destroy anyone... He taught StaceV to ride, but as an added bonus, he taught her to win. After that it was almost easy... Thank you Bronny, you have a home for life. xxx StaceV
