Eventing: Phase 3 Show Jumping Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

StaceV: Time to Archive this cache... It was one of our (StaceV) favourites... but as no one works in this area any more... it was just too hard to maintain :(

(And it was an amazingly smelly area!)

Geocache Description:

This is a Hide and Seek Cache (not interactive)

Please contribute to our hide by putting it back how you found it... with some thought to preserving the camo.
Australian's have always ruled at Equestrian sports, particularly 'Eventing'. In the outer Eastern Suburbs we have some of the best Riders, Facilities and Traditions in the country. The Doongala Pony Club's Johnny Reb Show Jumping Comp is steeped in tradition.

Eventing is divided into 3 Phases. The first phase is Dressage. Dressage is a test, in a 60m X 20m arena. Riders perform the same test and are judged for their accuracy and style. The Cross Country Phase should be ridden second, it brings out the bravery, scope and willingness of the horse. It is run over an undulating course of 5 -6 minutes galloping with at least 25 'efforts' (jumps). Penalties are expensive, 20 points per refusal and time faults to boot! But this cache is about the 3rd phase....Show Jumping.

Show Jumping is the Final phase of eventing to prove a horse's endurance. To prove that after being exhausted and bold, galloping and leaping in a some what desperate and flat style over a X Country course... the horse will saddle up again and have the energy, obedience and technique to go clear over 10 -12 demanding show jumps.
This Pony Club ground is not really used for eventing (it's a little short and bushy for proper galloping)... they do hold smaller short course One Day Events...

But what it is really known for is THE JOHNNY REB. A long running show jumping competition that a small pinto horse, who died in a showjumping competition has lent his name too. (visit link)
Again we have many memories of these grounds... the best horse I ever swung a leg over had his first outing here... **yrs ago. StaceV was a member of this club and I was their senior coach... she was the youngest rider on the smallest horse to compete, (Photo included) and at 15 yrs old she won the jnr Johnny Reb. It was an honor!

The cache is a good size and has it's own Pen and Log. There is an engraved First to Find Australian Key-ring disc. The swaps in it are new and packaged in plastic bags. Please take what you like, that's the idea, but swap fairly. There is a green torch key ring, a kitten figurine, a magnetic spare key holder, a small wrist compass and an Australian Key Ring,

Good LUCK!

Hey if you liked this Cache you'd probably enjoy 'One for StaceV' By Crazy! Nat Girl in the Wandin area! Good Luck : (visit link)
