Biography
Rolf Ola Salo Svensson (originally Rolf Ola Anders Svensson), born
on 19 February 1977 in Avesta in Dalarna as the son of a preacher.
He moved with his parents and four siblings to the city of Rottne,
where he spent his young years.
He is a rock singer, songwriter and composer, and wrote his first
song - Raggarbilar (Big Classic American cars) - already at the age
of 4.
His High School years he were spent at Katedralskolan (Cathedral
School) in Växjö, where he studied the Humanities program, with
focus on music.
He then moved to Malmö where he, with his friends Lars "Leari"
Ljungberg, Michael Jepson and Magnus Olsson, formed the band The
Ark in 1991, which has dominated the Swedish glam rock scene for 20
years.
In 1996 he assumed the stage name Ola Salo, which is a palindrome,
where Salo comes from Ola backwards and the first letter of his
surname. Today Salo is also his official name, though not last name
but first name.
2009 he married Anneli Pekula and together they have a daughter,
born in 2010.
In addition to The Ark Ola has also made a lot of other things.
Amongst other he has worked as a musical artist at Malmö City
Theatre, first in "Kristina från Duvemåla" and then in "Spelman på
taket" (Fiddler on the Roof).
In 2008-09 he made a highly acclaimed starring role in the musical
Jesus Christ Superstar at Malmö Opera, to which he himself stood
for the translation from English into Swedish.
