Update: April 22, 2012: New Cache Coordinates listed above!
We came out to do a maintenance run and were dismayed by the vehicle tracks across the desert landscape leading right up to the cache. As a result the cache has been relocated.
The cache is now a level walk of about a third of a mile (~500 meters) from the turnout on Salome Road. Yes, you can drive up one or the other of those dirt roads to within 130 feet (60 meters) of the cache, but you're not going to drive back without either a) driving it entirely in reverse, or b) further damaging the plant life if you try to turn your vehicle around. So for your own protection as well as that of the local plant life, please park your car alongside Salome Road and walk in from there. Thank you.
Update: February 5, 2008: New Cache Coordinates listed above!
The cache has been relocated to give the social trail a rest. It's a slightly longer hike now, though it is still level, which is why we also updated the terrain rating from 1 to 2. But if you've been driving I-10 for a while you'll be grateful for this little walk.
===== Interstate 10 travelers, take a quick pause and log in a find.
Park on the shoulder at the canal.
Cache is a wood half-shoe box - OK for small items. But the main point is to log in your find. Tell us where you are from, where you are going. Who came the longest way?
