Geocache Description:


This cache is located very close to a point on the 'Hamstreet circumnavigation' walk, which can be followed by picking up Sheet Two of two free walking sheets available at Ham Street railway station. It is easiest to park in the village at the Carter's Wood housing estate, as the public footpath from the B2067 (Ruckinge Road) follows a private drive past Orlestone Rise to a point where the footpath runs ahead into the field via a swing-gate. Note the cache is not located in the Hamstreet Woods nature reserve. The nearby woodlands are well worth visiting however, being famous for wild service trees or chequer trees as well as a vast array of wildlife including nightingales. The paths inside traditionally had names such as School Ride, Jacob's Ladder Ride and Stickles Path but the original posts with these names on have long since disappeared.
Please take care when replacing the cache and beware that there are private houses nearby so show respect at all times fasten securely and hide well - Tweezers will be needed - Many Thanks.
