When I was younger, much younger, Reinholds was a place I went to for little league games, a meal at the VFW or passing through to get to Grandma’s house. Now I have lived in the vast Village of Reinholds for more than 12 years.
I tried to get some cool information on the history of Reinholds off the web. After all, anything you want to know you can find on the web. Wikipedia has become the most useful tool for finding both useless and useful information. Imagine my surprise when Wikipedia had just about nothing on Reinholds. Google searches came up with little more.
Here is what I did find. As of the last US Census reported on July 1st, 2009, there are exactly 0 people living in the community of Reinholds. Furthermore, Reinholds is a whopping 0.92 square miles in size. Also, when trying to get information, I found that Reinholds is simply stated, in the “Other Communities” section of Lancaster counties list of Towns, Boros etc. So I guess we need to take a tour of Reinholds to find out what makes her tick.
Follow the waypoints, answer the questions and get the coordinates. Then, find the cache. It might be wise to do this during the day since the local police….hold on, there are no local police in Reinholds.

This is a spot I spent a lot of time hitting little round, dimpled balls. I was never really that good. Par for me was never attainable but I still had lots of fun. If you shoot 3 under par after 6 holes, what is your score?

This is a building some cachers may remember going to everyday when they were young. That’s right, it’s the Reinholds Elementary school. The last year this school was open, I was in 5th grade (1985). I remember going to a Camp Swatara meeting at Reinholds. I went to Schoeneck so between the 2 schools we may have had 20 students. It’s amazing that Schoeneck has just now closed it’s doors. What year was this school built?

Across the parking lot you will find the Fire Station. This used to be a play ground for the school and long after the school was closed you could still come to this spot and swing or slide. This was before the other two West Cocalico Township parks were built. This Fire Station is a huge upgrade in both size and location from where it used to be. What year was it built?

This building for those of you that remember, used to be the Fire Station. Now it is the home of the Reinholds Community Ambulance. You can see how this could be a bad spot for a Fire Engine to pull out. Even though the speed limit is 25 mph, few cars follow that speed limit. There are 2 signs on the side of the building along Galen Hall road, What do they say?
1: Handicapped Parking / No Soliciting
2: Handicapped Parking / No Loitering
3: No Parking / No Loitering
5: Caution / Slippery When Wet

The only public bar in Reinholds is also one of the oldest buildings in the village. There is a Bed and Breakfast that was built by German immigrants circa 1790. This bar is nice but I remember the days of coming here and not being able to breathe. The bar is old, which gives it great character but the smoke was suffocating. Now there is no longer smoking allowed and the air is much better. Deep breathe, Ahhhh. When was the Reinholds Inn established?

This building had a devastating fire at one of the worst possible times. Not that there is a good time. On February 10th 2010, in the middle of a snow storm, the building caught on fire. There were members of West Cocalico Township trying to clear the roads while multiple fire companies tried to get to the fire. This building, of course is Swamp Lutheran Church. The night of the fire there was a strong wind that kept the flames away from the Sanctuary. There is no way of knowing why the wind blew so strong and in that direction that night. Was it luck, or something else?? What is the date on the wall of the Sanctuary?

There are times you will see this location crawling with people and other times you will find it empty. This is one of 2 West Cocalico parks in Reinholds. There is a pavilion here along with a basketball court and playground equipment. Number of lights on the pavilion ceiling - picnic tables, then / sliding boards, then – charcoal grills = ______________(Do not follow the order of operations.)
