History:
Gateview was a Denver & Rio Grande (Rio Grande or D&RG)
railroad stop on the Lake City Branch. Gateview was named for its
view of The Gate, an opening in the nearby cliffs. When Gateview
was established in 1892, the nearby
Gateway post office was moved here. Gateview was a part of the
Dubois and Toliafero school district. Gateview was and still is
a ranching area.
