EN: "Madonna of Angels" or "Our Lady of Angels" is
a name (croatian: "Gospa od Andjela") of a Franciscan Monastery on
a hill above Orebic. Built in year 1470 on altitude of 152m, it
gives a fantastic view on town of Korcula across the channel, and
the whole Korcula archipelagus (small islands).
Inside church there is a nice museum dedicated to the time of
sailboats. Orebic was probably the world leader of number of
captains of sailboats pro capita (250 captains out of the
population of 5000 in 18th century) and it had an impressive fleat
of sailboats (more than 90). You can learn many interesting things,
see the documents from that era, and witness what impressive naval
force was Orebic at that time. Many monuments around Orebic and
whole Peljesac area are dedicated to sea men.
Museum is open from 9-12 and 15-20 every day, ticket is 20 kuna.
With it, you also have access to the church.
You can get there by car, just turn from the main road at N 42°
58.525 E 017° 09.824 (Waypoint 1), and you're up there in 5
minutes.
