bushwacking.
K9 Cliff Jumping is a cache created to help raise awareness for the
Canine family members and to remind everyone about the potential
dangers of not keeping an eye on our beloved pets. In 2010 two
ladies and their two daughters and two dogs were enjoying a nice
afternoon walk in this popular park when something horrible
happened. After hearing a scream from the young girls the ladies
soon realized that one of their beloved dogs had fallen off a cliff
into the raging river. The dog was eventually rescued by another
family member and the Comox Valley Rescue Team. The whole event was
captured by Chek News and A-Channel News and because of this, it
will forever be remembered by all those who know this dog, who's
name is Miley. Unfortunatley due to how popular this area is for
Geocaches we have had to hide this in a slightly different spot
than where the event occurred. This spot is still very relevant
because this is where the husband came running up the trail and it
is also very close to where the rescue team set up their staging
area. Please respect the container once found as it is placed with
lots of thought and please replace exactly as found so future pet
owning geocachers can take advantage of what will be periodically
placed in here. Pictures will be posted for helpfull hints and
views of area. If you would also like to see the original news
cast, the video can be seen, by sending an email for a request to
join Van Isle Geocaching Videos on Facebook, to:
vanislegeocachingvids@groups.facebook.com It can be found under
view photo's tab on right side, then click video with rescuer on
cliff. After joining please feel free to share any Geocaching
videos or pictures for everyone to enjoy. Please keep an eye on
your pets while in this park as there are lots of wildlife and
possible dangers around any corner. Would love to see pictures of
Cachers and/or their pets enjoying the contents.
