Geocache Description:

Bison Tube hanging in a tree on an island in the North Branch of the Potomac River.

Death Wish Dave adopted this cache from KG8GN and decided to add some more along this stretch. It is simply unbelievable that no one (until very recently) wanted to find these caches. I decided to change the name of this cache to reflect it being part of this water trail. Since it's challenging to come up with names for caches sometimes, one Sunday morning, while drinking some coffee and listening to my Pandora station, I decided to name these after some of my favorite songs. The song referenced in this title is from The Cardigans and is called "Feathers and Down". This song gives me chills whenever I hear it. It's about the horrors of heroin. Even in my white collar world, I know some wonderful young men and women who have OD'd. It aches to think about what might have come from such wonderful humans that were gone way before their time.

Enough of the bummer. When I adopt a cache, in honor of the original CO, I usually keep the description as is:

During recent canoe trip down the Nourth Branch the Yak bunch decided to place a cache on several islands along the float from Black Oak to 956. If you decide to seek this cache a boat is necessary. Do not attempt from any of the roads out Gerstell as it is PRIVATE PROPERTY! Also climbing gear is not necessary but good shoes are. The cache you seek is a bison tube hidden above flood stage on an island on the North Branch. There is no room for items. Potomac River Water Trail: The North Branch (Allegany County) (Existing) The Potomac River Water Trail: the North Branch details the northern reaches of the Potomac River in Allegany County, Maryland between Westernport and Cumberland. The area is depicted on three separate maps covering approximately 32 miles. This water trail was developed through a partnership between the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the National Park Service (NPS), Allegany County and others. The maps show access points on both sides of the river including information on support facilities like restrooms, camping and fishing sites, and picnic and parking areas. The maps are printed on waterproof, tear-proof paper and are packaged in a zip closure plastic pouch.
