A nature conservancy is a non-profit organization that works to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on earth, by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. This 3,000ha (1 ha = 10,000 m²) area consists of a number of farms of various sizes (fruit, vegetable, flower and timber farms as well as a lot of indigenous bush). Hunting is prohibited and alien vegetation is eradicated from time to time.
‘Jock of the Bushveld’ is a true story written by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick about a courageous dog named Jock. He travelled throughout the Lowveld in the 1880’s with his owner who was a transport rider. Jock’s route runs through this conservancy.
This cache is one of about 20 caches found in various conservancies worldwide.
