Geocache Description:

Coordinates will take you to The Obelisk at Kirkley. You are looking for a disco cache, it is located within 3 metres of The Obelisk, you will need to search the area in order to locate cache.
Cache is log only, please bring your own writing implement. Free parking is available near cache site and the Obelisk is free of charge to visit.

The Obelisk at Kirkley was erected in 1788 by Rev Newton Ogle(1726-1804), Dean of Winchester Cathedral. It was to commemorate the centenary of the landing in this country of William of Orange and his wife Mary, and the "Glorious Revolution" of 1688-9.
The Obelisk is made of Ashlar Sandstone. The plaque, which is now illegible read 'Vindicatae Libertatis Publicae Anno Centisimo MDCCLXXXVIII Newton Ogle P'.
