Not far from the cache is a magnificent railway viaduct, dating from the 1880s which crosses the River Almond in the country park. Before it closed in about 1960, it used to carry the line from the shale oil works at Pumpherston to the North British Railway at Camps. It is now a footpath/cycle path and provides magnificent views of the river from above.
