Geocache Description:

Welcome to the E.T. Highway Training Course. If you are planning to make a trip out west to do the E.T. power trail of caches, you should come by here and do the training course so you will be prepared and know what to expect.

All caches on the training course are film cans hidden under a rock just at the edge of the road and are 1/10th of a mile apart, just like the E.T. Highway. We recommend you do the training course in number order since they will then all be on the right side of the road. This is a deserted area and you are likely not to encounter very much traffic here, just like the E.T. Highway. I didn't see a single car while I was placing the caches, however be sure to pull over to a safe spot when you stop. You will be tempted to use stickers on the cache logs to increase your time, we ask that you do not do this as it will gunk up the logsheet. You may want to get a stamper with your team name made instead. Also, please bring a bag of extra film cans with you that way if a cache is missing you can replace it. We don't want anyone to have any DNFs on your run.

We obviously can't give you the numbers that you would get on the real E.T. Highway, but we can duplicate the experience. After all, geocaching is about the experiences and not the numbers. So, this is what you should do...After you have completed the training course, turnaround and repeat the course 750 more times. Or if you prefer you can just continue running the course for 16 hours. Or whichever comes first. I've been told that after the first 100 or so E.T. caches that you don't even need to use the GPS anymore, that will likely be the case here as well.

You may want to time yourself, start your watch as you approach the first cache and stop it at the end of the course. Then multiply your time by 750, factor in however many breaks you think you would take and you'll have some idea of how long the run would take you. And there you have it, the real E.T. Highway experience. We hope you enjoy it!
