Geocache Description:

You do not have to go inside fence to get to cache.

The cache is located by a cemetery and very near the grave site of a local character. Any one that has lived in the Starkville area from the 60's to the 80's will probably know this man. Olyn M. Roach, better known to locals as simply "Hot" Roach. Hot was a simple man that didn't have or want much. He lived in a little shack right outside town on hwy 12 with no electricity. Everywhere he went was on his one speed schwinn bicycle. He was regularly spotted in Longview, Sturgis, Ackerman and Louisville all on his bicycle. Hot was not a stranger to hard work. He cut grass to make a living and cut many a yards in Starkville. He could regularly be seen riding his bike pulling his lawn mower behind him with a rope. If you would blow your horn at him he would toot his little bulb horn back to you and wave.
I got to know him working at a local service station and he was always good for a laugh from the stories he would tell.
If you look about 20 ft to the west of the cache you will see the tombstone for Hot and if you look on the back of the stone you will see his bicycle carved in the stone and also on his foot stone.
If you have any Hot Roach stories please share them in your logs. I think it's important to remember these characters from the past.
