Geocache Description:

Cache is along Crowley Lake Rd (old Hwy 395). Use the turnout on the east side of blacktop.

Heading North on Hwy 395, turn West at Toms Place, then an immediate right onto Crowley Lake Dr heading NW. Going South on Hwy 395, turn West at McGee Creek Rd (about 2 miles South of the little green chapel). Turn left onto Crowley Lake Dr. End to end it is only about 7 miles total and you won’t miss any caches on the highway. You will have great views of Crowley Lake and the Long Valley Caldera, 20 miles long and 12 miles wide, created by a cataclysmic eruption thousands of years ago that blew out 150 cubic miles of magma, with ash falling as far East as Nebraska. Crowley Lake is officially Long Valley Reservoir, the largest reservoir of the Los Angeles Aqueduct system. In 1941 a marker dedicated the place to Father J.J. Crowley, the popular “Padre of the Desert” whose parish covered 17,000 square miles from Death Valley north into Mono County. Just SE of the cache you can look down onto Crooked Creek and Little Round Valley, a pretty meadow known as a premium sheep grazing area for over 130 years. (Some information taken from “Motor Touring in the Eastern Sierra Mono County California”) If you don't care about anything but the cache, you can turn West at N37. 34.354, W118.44.360 off of Hwy 395.
Container is a small plastic box with goodies.
